Alejandro Escobar is one of the most interesting performers of the international lyrical panorama, highlighting its Latin origins and sharing it with his vocal qualities.

He has revealed himself to be an ideal performer of the 1800 repertoire. He has won major international competitions such as the Contest Teatro Nazionale di Tokyo-2000 (Tortona, Italy), Concorso A. Bonci-2001 (Cesena, Italy) for the opera Don Pasquale, Donizetti. Concorso Internazionale XXXIV Toti dal Monte-2004 (Treviso-Italy) for the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Rossini. He was a finalist in other competitions of considerable importance such as Giacomo Lauri-Volpi-1997 (America-Italy), Marie Kraja 2004 (Tirana-Albania), he was also a semifinalist at the competition of Francisco Vinas-2007 (Barcelona-Spain).

Especially his participation in Toti dal Monte’s competition gave Alejandro Escobar the opportunity to make his debut in Treviso’s Teatro Comunale and since then he has quickly developed his career in Italy and around the world such as in Colombia, Brasil, Mexico, Ecuador, France, Spain, Albania, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Finland, Portugal, Switzerland, Malta, Sweden, Estonia, China, Japan and Israel.

In the Belcanto his repertoire features Barbiere di Siviglia, Cenerentola, Italiana in Algeri, Il Signor Bruschino by Rossini; La Traviata, Rigoletto, Falstaff, Otello by Verdi; I Puritani, La Sonnambula, Capuleti e Montecchi by Bellini; Matrimonio segreto and L’Impresario in Angustie by Cimarosa; Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte, Der Schauspieldirektor by Mozart; Werther, Manon by Massenet; Don Pasquale, Elisir d’Amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Rita by Donizetti.  Other rarities complement his operatic repertory.

He has taken master classes with important artists who have given him the tools to create his repertoire such as Robert Ketellson, Rockwall Blake, Claudio Desderi.  His vocal training is attributed to soprano Cecilia Nunez Albanese.

Parallel to his operatic activities he has an important role in performing symphonic music and oratorio with major musical formations such as the Orquesta Sinfonica de Colombia, the Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogota, the Orquesta Donizetti de Bergamo, the Orquesta Carlo Coccia Novara, the Orquesta Teatro Municipal Sao Paolo (Brasil), the Orquesta Filarmonica de Antioquia (Colombia), the National Estonian Orchestra (Estonia) and the Israel Symphony Orchestra (Israel).

He has participated in special programs such as Il Regio Itinerante at Teatro Regio of Turin with Liebeslieder und Neues, Liebeslieder Waltzer, Musica da camera by Rossini and Homage to Bernstein. He took part in Pergine’s Spettacolo Aperto Festival 1999, singing the part of Catullo in Orff’s Catulli Carmina. In April of 1999, he sang Brittens “A Wedding Anthem” at Teatro alla Scala di Milano during concert season.

He has sung many performances of Mozart’s Requiem, Glory Mass, Brevis Mass,  Haydn’s Stabat Mater and Die Schöpfung, Beethoven 9th Symphony, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and recently Verdi’s Requiem.

Escobar has recorded the first original language recording of Rita où le mari Batù from Donizetti for Bongiovanni and made other important recordings for the Ricordi program Canto L’opera. The first one was Tenor rarities Vol 2 and the second one was Lirico- leggero Tenor recordings.. Since then he has also recorded for Dynamic L’impresario in Angustie by Cimarosa, and Nora by Gaetano Luporini.
